Kimberley Chess Club Open

Message from Kimberley Chess Club:

The Kimberley Chess Club will be having an Open Chess Tournament (Chess SA rated) at the Teacher’s Training Centre, Boshof Road, Kimberley (Behind the Cecil John Rhodes Statue) on the 08th of August 2015.

We are formally inviting all chess players to participate and support this tournament. There will be various sections to accommodate players from all age groups. Registration will be R80 per player and payable via EFT or at the tournament.

Entry Closes on Friday the 07th of August 2015 at 18:00.
Late Registration will only start on the 2nd Round with a penalty of R30.


7:00-7:45 Confirmation of Participation
8:00 – 8:10 Final Draws
Round 1 starts at 08h15
Round 2 – 15 minutes after round 1
Round 3 – 15 minutes after round 2
Round 4 – 15 minutes after round 3
Round 5 – 15 minutes after round 4

As announced earlier, Kristen Ahjum and Marelize van der Walt were selected to represent SA in the Common Wealth Chess Championship that starts on Monday in Delhi, India.

NC Chess wish them the all the best. Its always a tough tournament to play and we know you will do your best and make us proud!!!

  • Section A: Open to all, recommended for players born 1999 and before; and high rated players
  • Section B: Open to all players born 2000 and after rated below 1400
  • Section C: Open to all players born 2004 and after rated below 1200
  • Section D: Players born 2008 or after
  • Development: All new players not affiliated to NC Chess
